Beyond Compliance: Building Inclusive and Equitable Campuses

On Friday, November 14, the Los Angeles Community College District will host the 11th Annual disAbility Summit at Los Angeles Southwest College featuring Keynote Speaker Mikiba W. Morehead, Ed.D., with opening remarks from ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ Chancellor Alberto J. Román, D.P.A.

Administrators, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. Flex Credit for Faculty Training is available. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Sponsored by the ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ Chancellor’s Office.

Keynote Speaker—Mikiba W. Morehead, Ed.D. (she/her)
Dr. Morehead is a higher education leader with extensive experience in student conduct, Title IX, disability services, and crisis management. Guided by a commitment to equity and social justice, she specializes in ADA/504 compliance, informal resolution, and addressing technology-facilitated sexual abuse. Her research and training work empower campuses to create safer, more inclusive learning environments.

Opening Remarks—Alberto J. Román, D.P.A.
Dr. Alberto J. Román’s remarkable journey from an immigrant background to becoming the Chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District (ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾) is a powerful testament to the transformative potential of education. For over two decades, he has been a dedicated advocate for educational equity, tirelessly working to create meaningful pathways to success for underserved communities.
