WorkSource Center Grand Opening
City Officials Announce Formal Opening of New WorkSource Center at Los Angeles Mission College
Sylmar, CA – The City of Los Angeles Economic & Workforce Development Department (EWDD) in partnership with the Office of Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, Goodwill Southern California, and Los Angeles Mission College (viogٷվ) – one of the nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District – announce the opening of the second WorkSource Center located on the L.A. Mission College Campus in the Northeast San Fernando Valley (SFV).
The creation of this WorkSource Center (WSC) in the Valley provides the local community with at reach employment services. The Northeast SFV WSC provider, Goodwill Southern California, will work with communities that have been disconnected from the workforce, helping to facilitate opportunities to adults, Veterans, at-risk-youth, dislocated workers, unhoused, and the re-entry population. These student and community populations will have access to services such as resume building, job training, employment referrals, career guidance, and additional support.
“By expanding the partnerships between our WorkSource Center system and Los Angeles community colleges, Angelenos impacted by job loss or job insecurity now have another entry way to gain the training and education services that they need to get back on their feet,” said EWDD General Manager Carolyn Hull.
Furthermore, job seekers will have access to the skills needed to equip themselves to succeed in their career, whether that is beginning a new career, advancing in their current career path, or transitioning into a new job industry.
“We’re honored to be partners with the City of Los Angeles and Mission College as we provide the necessary skills training to enhance the opportunity to obtain sustainable jobs for those in our community with barriers to employment,” said Goodwill Southern California President & CEO Patrick McClenahan.
The WorkSource Center, located in the heart of L.A. Mission College’s campus, will increase access to the surrounding communities of Sylmar, San Fernando, Pacoima, and Panorama City.
“With the opening of a dedicated WorkSource Center, L.A. Mission College is expanding its commitment to creating pathways from classroom to career. We are thrilled that this partnership will provide essential employment services to both our students and community members, empowering them to build brighter futures,” said L.A. Mission College President, Armida Ornelas, Ph.D.
